Nissan Sentra Lemons: Transmission Problems

Lemon Alert, Get a Lemon Lawyer and Get out of these Nissan Sentras: From 2012-2017 Nissan Sentras were and are equipped with an Xtronic Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT). It has been reported that the temperature of the CVT fluid in the Sentras is controlled by a small cooler attached to the CVT itself, rather than the radiator. The design of the CVT’s cooling system makes the transmission unreasonably sensitive to heat. The CVT in these Sentras is thus prone to
overheating, which may activate “Fail-Safe Mode” (fluid temperature protection logic mode) and reduce engine performance, among other symptoms. As a result, drivers may experience conditions ranging from shudders or vibrations to catastrophic transmission failure.
