BMW Keyless System Problem

The Consumer’s Friend received a report of the new BMW keyless system having a dangerous problem: it is unable to sense you are out of the area and far from your vehicle. This can lead to the BMW’s engine being left running for hours unattended. The consumer reported that he got out of his new BMW, hit the lock feature, and walked away. He came back the next morning to find the BMW was still running. He was informed this is a common problem by a BMW dealer (off the record). Other manufacturer’s systems can sense you have left the area, and shut off the engine. If you have had this issue, please leave a comment on what (if any) fix you were offered from BMW.
