Hyundai Keeping American Consumers in the Dark About Safety Defects in the Santa Fe
2010-12 Hyundai Santa Fes have a dangerous safety defect, but Hyundai refuses to tell US consumers the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. In the class action, Eisley v. Hyundai, a Hyundai North America witness testified this week that Hyundai North America has purposely failed to notify its customers of a defect that causes the Santa Fe to shut down into “limp-home” mode without warning and at even highway speeds! (After speaking with his lawyer on break, this same witness suddenly tried to recant his testimony, fyi). Customers have reported being suddenly shut down to crawl speeds while traveling on the highway… all without warning. Despite notifying its dealerships of the lemon law defect in early December of last year, Hyundai decided not to warn the owners of the vehicles in violation of a consent decree with the federal government due to past safety notice failings and in violation of state and federal law! This follows hot on the heals of “low speed stalling” alerts sent to these same customers last year that expressly denied any safety concerns when these same vehicles were shown to lose all power (including power steering and brakes). At least hundreds of 2010-12 Hyundai Santa Fes are entirely unsafe, but Hyundai is keeping American consumers in the dark.
