Tesla X “Ghosting” Windshield: Lemon Law Report
We have received reports about the Tesla X and a serious windshield defect that leads to “ghosting.” As described by Consumer Reports: “[T]here are manufacturing design issues…the Model X’s uniquely curved windshield has resulted in “double vision” distortion of headlights, taillights, and streetlamps at night. The effect is distracting and tiring, and it makes following distances difficult to gauge.”
Tesla forums are full of consumer complaints, Here is link to one person’s video of the “ghosting” effect https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EibJQDn0ne0.
Here is the Tesla response at least one consumer got:
“Reflections (ghosting) occur in all laminated glass to varying degrees. Some people notice
the effect more so than others, even if the magnitude of the effect is the same. We have
inspected and measured your windshield and found it to pass our design spec which
meets all regulatory and compliance standards.”
Translation: Go pound sand.
The California Lemon Law (if you bought is CA), and the federal Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, both give consumers protections against defective vehicles and the manufacturers that refuse to live up to their warranties. Contact the Hanson Law Firm for a free consultation.
