How to Dispute a Credit Card Bill with a Merchant

Paid by credit card and there is something wrong with the product or service? Here is what to consider doing.
MOVE QUICKLY: You can’t withhold a payment after paying the bill
1. make a good faith effort to resolve the issue with the seller or service provider (make sure to always send a letter as part of this — and keep a copy)
2. if does not work, collect the proof (receipts, pictures, ads, contracts, emails, letters) that the sale or service went wrong
3. contact the credit card company you purchased with and request a “charge back”
4. the credit card company will often help mediate and even may force the merchant to lose the sale and have to pay the cost of the charge back procedure.
5. if that does not work, Courts may be your only problem. Be sure to consult a qualified lawyer specializing in consumer law.
