Fake Engine Rumble: Ford, BMW, VW and Others Dupe Consumers

Think your V-8 throaty engine rumble sounds great?  What if it is being faked and is just a recording pumped into the cabin through your speakers?  Does that Mustang GT or Ford F-150 rumble now make you feel like a fool?   The Washington Post just published a major piece on the industry practice, now widespread, to fool consumers into buying cars for sounds that are faked by using artificial engine noise!  In the interview, Kelley Blue Book Senior analyst says”  “If you’re going to do that stuff, do that stuff.  Own it.  Tell customers… You’re fabricating the car’s sexiness. You’re fabricating performance elements of he car that don’t actually exist. That just feels deceptive to me.”
